Regular replacement is absolutely essential, whether the boater navigates in calm fresh waters or in a more aggressive salt-loaded environment, in order to preserve the life of the Suzuki engine. Wear depends heavily on the immediate environment: nearby metal pontoons or other vessels connected to shore power can accelerate the natural electrolysis phenomenon. By systematically replacing this key part every year, you prevent corrosion from attacking the precious aluminium components of your gearcase.

The boat owner should carry out constant visual monitoring to ensure the anode is performing its sacrificial role by breaking down over the months. This is a completely normal and desired process; a part that remains perfectly intact after several weeks of immersion is often a sign of poor electrical contact or a material unsuited to your area.

To properly check the real condition of the protection, brush it vigorously with a wire brush.
