Galvanic corrosion is a permanent, insidious and devastating danger for the metal components of your engine when immersed. This electrochemical phenomenon gradually destroys your propeller and lower unit. To prevent it, a sacrificial electrode must be installed. This part, such as a zinc anode, is made from a metal less noble than your engine alloy. As a result, it corrodes and sacrifices itself instead of the vital components. Choosing the right anode model is therefore the foundation of successful winterization. Choosing the metal according to your navigation area Selecting the right alloy is crucial information for optimizing the service life of your equipment. The aquatic environment directly dictates the material to prioritize: Zinc : it is the reference material for regular navigation in salt water (sea).
