What is the Trim?
\n
The trim is a tilt adjustment mechanism.Mounted on most outboard motors and on Z-drive bass, it allows, by playing on the longitudinal plate, to reduce or increase the wet surface of the boat and thus to gain or lose in performance, but also in comfort according to the state of the sea. This setting mechanism is therefore very valuable for your outboard and z-drive motors. The trim affects road performance and stability and requires some experience in its use.
\n
Use the Trim correctly
\n
At start-up, trimming in negative allows to promote flooding. On the way, we lift the embassy a bit to clear the bow until we find the maximum balance, and thus reducing the wet surface allows to promote speed.
\n
Careful, on flat water it can be tempting to trim to the limit of the ventilation of the propeller, however some boats start to moor at the slightest residue of clapot when the trim is set very high: a weak wave of the sea such as the wake of a already distant boat can result in a rolling. You must immediately return to the less accentuated trim setting.
\n
The trim and stability of the road
\n
The trim influences, on many boats, on road stability. It is better, then, to fully enjoy it, to adopt an adjustment that makes the bar perfectly neutral, which corresponds to a good speed/balance ratio.A positive trim adjustment results in the ventilation of the propeller from the start of a turn: before making a tight curve at high speed, the trim will be returned to a negative position.
\n
The trim by sea trained
\n
When the sea and the wind is back, it is advisable to relieve its forward up the Trim, the bow will be lightened and the nose of the boat will no longer come to crash in the waves in front of you.
\n
During the sea and the wind is opposite, it is imperative to lower the Trim in order to avoid overcrowding.
