VETUS exhaust systems are based on “wet” systems in which engine cooling water is injected into the exhaust line. This lowers the exhaust-gas temperature to around 40–50 °C while reducing diesel engine exhaust fumes. The “wet” exhaust system is far preferable to a “dry” exhaust system, in which exhaust-gas temperatures can reach 600 °C or more.
