Yes, to remove the stern drive, it is often necessary to remove the propellers and the anode to access certain fastening nuts. This is the ideal opportunity to grease the propeller shaft.
To avoid any mistake between a Mercruiser Bravo and an Alpha model, bring your engine serial number. Variants exist, especially for the Mercruiser exhaust (tube or accordion bellow). Check whether your engine is a V6, V8 or 4-cylinder, as the diameter of the exhaust bellow can vary. Take advantage of your annual service (oil filter change, fuel filters) to inspect the condition of the rubber. If the material looks dry or shows marked folds, it is time to act.
