It is also essential to distinguish the two types of rubber protections found on your transmission: The universal-joint bellow: it protects the drive crosses and the support bearing. If it ruptures, it causes immediate corrosion of the rotating components and water ingress toward the bilge through the coupling passage. The exhaust bellow: it may be simple or fitted with non-return flaps depending on the architecture of your exhaust line.
