Different steering pumps are available.We have the hydraulic steering pump, being the oldest version, it requires to be driven by the accessory belt in order to continuously turn the engine on.This system tends to increase fuel consumption in a fairly substantial way.

The electrohydraulic pump has an electric motor to press the steering fluid for each use of the steering wheel during handling.
