The Yamaha 40xmhl - 2016 produces a maximum output of 40 HP at 5,000 rpm. This 2-stroke outboard engine features two in-line cylinders, a displacement of 703 cm³ and bore and stroke dimensions of 80.0 and 70.0 mm respectively.

Its full-throttle operating range extends from 4,500 to 5,500 rpm. The carburettor fuel system works alongside CDI ignition and an NGK BR7HS spark plug, while starting, tiller-handle control and engine tilting are all operated manually.
