What is a connecting rod nut for?

The rod nut works with the bolt to secure the rod cap to the connecting rod, maintaining the clamp around the crankshaft journal. It must hold under vibration and high engine speed.

When should it be replaced?

Always replace rod nuts during engine rebuilds or after rod removal, to preserve correct torque and avoid loosening.
